Teamsters Local 344 Legislative Action

Working Americans today face many unprecedented challenges. While the current administration's foreign and domestic trade policies have resulted in the creation of massive fortunes for corporations and the richest people in the US, the same cannot be said for American workers. We're faced with skyrocketing health care costs millions of uninsured that pose a huge burden on the health care system; increasingly rare Employer funded pension funds and an endangered social security system which threatens retirement security, and staggering losses of high paying job to countries with lower living and working standards which has resulted in stagnant wages and overall job insecurity. If this isn't bad enough, the system that gives the best chance for workers to improve their situation, forming a Union and bargaining with Employers, is one-sided in favor of Employers.

How do we fix this?

The best way to address these problems is to get active politically. The presence of Local 344, in conjunction with D.R.I.V.E., the political arm of the IBT fight hard in Washington D.C. and in Madison to support the interests of our members and all working people.

We can't do it alone. You can help. Corporations outspend Unions over 13 to 1 on political lobbying. They may outspend us, but they cannot out vote us. You can help in many ways.
