FAA REAUTHORIZATION BILL HEADS TO SENATE

As you may have heard in the news, the FAA reauthorization bill has been introduced in the Senate.  The Senate bill does not contain the express carrier language which will remove non airline employees working for FedEx Express from the Railway Labor Act and put them under the more appropriate National Labor Relations Act.  The version of the bill that passed the House of Representatives did contain the express carrier language.  Because of that difference and several others, the two versions of the bill will have to be reconciled in what is called a Conference Committee, where Members from the House and Senate are appointed to work out these differences.

We fully expect that the final bill that is signed into law will have the express carrier language in it and FedEx will no longer be able to hide behind the wrong labor laws in order to keep its employees from exercising their rights.  In order to make sure that this happens, it is extremely important that you and your members participate in the letter writing campaign to Congress and keep the pressure up.
